Why join your OSRA Branch?
Membership in the OSRA is voluntary. However, if you want to benefit from being part of a Provincial organization that looks out for the best interests of soccer referees, including their professional development, then you should seriously consider joining.

Objectives of the OSRA
The objectives of the OSRA shall be to advance the game of soccer by:
- Improving the status, protecting the interest and promoting the welfare of referees, and retaining in membership those who have ceased active refereeing.
- Establishing, developing, assisting in the general work and co-ordinating the activity of Branches in order to encourage new candidates and to improve the standard of refereeing.
- Ensuring that all games at which members officiate are played in accordance with with the Laws of the Game established by the International Football Board and with the rules of competition set by competent local authorities approved by the Ontario Soccer Association.
- Fostering a relationship of close co-operation between referees and and the Ontario Soccer Association Incorporated, its affiliates and associated bodies, and assisting that association in promoting the knowledge and best interests of the game.
- Fostering a relationship of close co-operation with the Canadian Soccer Referees Association and its member Provincial and Territorial Associations by working collectively to promote the welfare of referees and the achievement of uniform standards of achievement, evaluation, education and promotion throughout Canada.
- Doing all such lawful things as may be, or become, necessary to fulfill these objectives.
Why are there fees to join the OSRA as well as the OSA?
- The OSA and the OSRA are independent associations. The OSA is responsible for accreditation, classification, assessment and discipline of referees, as well as, instructors and assessors. Your OSA fee pays for these programs.
- The OSRA hosts many of the continuing education sessions for registered referees. They also publish CanSoRef, a magazine related to refereeing in Ontario. All of the OSRA fees fund specialized programs designed to provide professional development for referees
